Training course overview

The Plant Piping training course offered by Coventry Academy comprehensively integrates pipeline engineering disciplines to address design, structural integrity, hydraulic considerations, and maintenance. Pipelines are crucial for delivering hydrocarbons efficiently, reliably, and at high capacities compared to other transport modes. They are established, cost-effective, and scalable for various materials, facilitating the gathering of production from onshore and offshore fields to terminals, interconnection points, and refineries.

This course emphasizes practical application, covering essential topics such as ASME B31.3 and API 570 standards. Delegates will gain insights into inspection and testing procedures aligned with these standards, drawn from industrial practices. Workshops featuring real-world challenges encourage discussions and the exchange of experiences among participants.

Key features of the Coventry Academy training course include:

  • Fundamental aspects of pipeline design and manufacturing considerations
  • Principles governing pipeline hydraulics and sizing
  • Structural integrity and corrosion management principles
  • Common types of pipeline failures and mitigation strategies
  • Introduction to relevant ASME and API codes for pipeline operations
  • Techniques for effective pipeline maintenance

What are the goals?

By the end of this Coventry Academy training course, participants will be able to:

  • Develop deep understanding & familiarity basic principles of pipeline design for various industrial applications.
  • Be familiar with the practical aspects of structural integrity, related to pipeline operation
  • Have a knowledge of the various types structural and corrosion failure in relation to process pipes
  • Have an understanding of aspects of pipe maintenance practises
  • Have the necessary knowledge of relevant piping codes, such as ASME and API
  • Use & follow the guidelines & best industrial practices related to the design and operation of pipelines

Who is this training course for?

This Coventry Academy training course is suitable for a wide range of professionals but will greatly benefit:

  • Process, chemical and mechanical engineers working in petrochemical and process industry, including oil refineries and gas production companies where operation and maintenance of pipelines are high importance
  • Operation, technical service and maintenance professionals from various processing plants involved in everyday operation, control, inspection and maintenance of pipelines
  • Engineers and consultants dealing with planning of new production lines and retrofitting plants and introducing new technologies
  • Technical professionals responsible for maintenance and repair of equipment

How will this training course be presented?

This training course will utilise a variety of proven adult learning techniques to ensure maximum understanding, comprehension and retention of the information presented. The training course will be conducted along workshop principles with formal lectures and interactive worked examples included in several workshops. The emphasis in the course will be on the explanation of all technical phenomena and providing answers to problems that are encountered in everyday industrial practice related to installation, operation and maintenance, as well as repair and alterations of pipeline systems.

Each learning point will be reinforced with practical examples. Computer simulations and videos will be used to illustrate the main aspects of the course. Delegates will receive electronic versions of the course material together with relevant computer simulations and videos. There will be ample opportunities for active discussion and sharing professional experiences and exchange that will help solidify the gained knowledge.
