This Pipeline Pigging Operations training course aims to cover industry standards for inspecting and monitoring the condition of pipeline systems using pigging devices, ultimately focusing on optimizing pipeline maintenance and operational efficiency. Participants will learn how to identify pipeline defects and detect potential failures caused by material degradation or other operational issues. The course will also include an introduction to risk analysis related to equipment failures, as well as available preventive and corrective technologies. Additionally, the Fitness for Service (FFS) methodology will be introduced and explained.

Day Three: Factors Considered in Planning of Pigging Operation
  • Pipeline operation conditions: Flow rate, pressure drop, pumping power
  • Fluid cleanliness: wax, debris, dirt, etc.
  • Frequency of pig runs
  • HSE during pigging: site safety procedures and performance control
  • Environmental issues with waste handling

Day Four: Smart Pigging Device Application
  • Design of smart pigging devices for in-line inspection (ILI)
  • Non-destructive testing with NDT
